Together – Tierra (1981)

Together by Tierra is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago. It’s also one of those great slow jams you’ll hear on our Quiet Storm programming Mon-Thurs from 10PM to 2AM.

There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different?  When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory and more of the music that keeps you movin?  We’re it.

See, we’re all about the classics too…. Classic R&B and dance of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more.  For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.

Slow jams, there’s so many of those great slow jams that it takes us almost two weeks to get through them all on our Quiet Storm. Whether it’s Always And Forever, Reasons, Wishing On A Star or the deeper cuts like Santa Esmeralda’s “You’re My Everything”, Wee Gee’s “Hold On To Your Dreams” or this gem right here “Together which was originally recorded by The Intruders and written by the iconic legends Gamble & Huff.

Taken from Tierra’s 1980 released album “City Nights”, the band was created in the 70’s with former El Chicano members Steve Salas (vocals) and his brother Rudy Salas (guitar). The other original members were Bobby Navarrete (reeds), Joey Guerra (keyboards), Steve Falomir (bass guitar), Philip Madayag (drums), and Andre Baeza (percussion).

This version of Together gave the band a platinum single. The band also has the distinction of being the first Latino band to have four songs on the national chart with two of them in the Top 100 at the same time
