Stir Crazy (1980)

We always say the best music, movies and TV shows have all been made, we’re here to help you remember them all.
1980’s “Stir Crazy” is proof of that.

Released near the end of the year, Stir Crazy stars one of my favorite comedy duos ever, Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.  They were as smooth as silk on the screen together. Coming off of 1976’s “Silver Streak”, Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor get 125 years for a bank robbery they didn’t commit. While in jail, Wilder’s (Skip Donahue) character is found to have super amazing talents riding a ‘bull.’ From there, he’s forced to compete in a rodeo representing the prison against another and it’s from there that they plan an escape.

The movie also stars JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Barry Corbin and a surrounding cast of inmates that make this a great movie for male-bonding Mondays.

Directed by the late, great Sidney Poitier and was the third biggest grossing film of the year. The movie was budgeted for 10 million dollars and did over 101 million dollars at The box office.
