Snow – Informer (1992)

This is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago.

There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different?  When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory and more of the music that keeps you movin?  We’re it.

See, we’re all about the classics too…. Classic R&B and dance of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more.  For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.

“Informer” is one of those guilty pleasures of the 90’s. Snow was a Canadian rapper, MC Shan was a member of the Juice Crew comprised of Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, Masta Ace, Craig G and Intelligent Hoodlum AKA Tragedy.

It’s hard to listen to this song and not see Jim Carrey do his parody on In Living Color.

So, without further adieu, check out his parody below.

While many may ridicule it, you gotta admit, ol’ boy had mad skills. Informer spent seven consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song is based on a real incident that happened to the ‘Snow Man’. In 1989, Snow was charged with two counts of attempted murder. At the time, he was detained for a year in Toronto before the charges were reduced to aggravated assault, and he was eventually acquitted and freed.
The album had some other great tracks including “Girl I’ve Been Hurt”, Lonely, Lonely Morning” and more.
