Point Of No Return – Expose’ (1984)

The best music, movies and TV shows have all been made, we’re here to help you remember them all. This is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago.

There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different?  When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory and more of the music that keeps you movin?  We’re it.

See, we’re all about the classics too… Classic R&B and dance of the ’60s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more.   For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.

Let’s go back in time, back to 1984, yes, 1984, the year the song was originally released on the Pantera label (before Arista picked it up).

Written and produced by U.S. Dance Music Hall of Fame honorary inductee Lewis Martineé, the single was re-recorded in 1987 with Jeanette Jurado as the lead vocalist and included on the group’s 1987 debut album, Exposure.

The original vocal mix of the song, featuring Lorenzo, reached the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in March of 1985. The re-recorded vocal version with Jurado reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1987.

Past members of the supergroup were Gioia Bruno, Ann Curless, Jeanette Jurado, Kelly Moneymaker, Sandeé, Alejandra Lorenzo (Alé) and Laurie Miller.

Back in the day, Chicago’s WCYC, a tiny little 10-watt radio station in the Chicago Boys And Girls Club in the “Little Village” would be one of the first in the country to play this song and help it along to its success.
