The Partridge Family (1970)
The Partridge Family debuted on ABC on September 25, 1970 and ran ’til August 24, 1974. Starring Shirley Jones and her step-son David Cassidy. The show followed the lives of a pop music family, loosely based on a real-life family band of the time called “The Cowsills.”
Featuring a great cast including Danny Bonaduce, Dave Madden, the show actually addressed many trying social issues back then. It had stars before they were stars like Richard Pryor, Farrah Fawcett, Louis Gosset Jr. and more. In fact, Shirley Jones was a single mother on the show and for that time, that in itself was a bit risque for national TV.
The show is a perfect example of how full of it, phony and hypocrites most Hollywood types are. The producers literally exploited Cassidy for hundreds of millions of dollars. The same type of people we hear today telling us how much they ‘care’ and how we need to care for each other, treat each other right, love one another. Blah Blah Blah, more B.S. Nothing changes with them other than time. At one time, Cassidy had more members in his fan club than Elvis and The Beatles.
Let’s go back to 1970 for this show’s pilot episode
