Oh God!

We always say the best music, movies and TV shows have all been made, we’re here to help you remember them all.
1977’s “Oh God!” is proof of that.

Long before Bruce Almighty or even Morgan Freeman’s “The Story of God,” there was George Burns, John Denver, Terri Garr and John Denver in this 1977 classic comedy.

You wake up one day and God chose you to spread his message. His message? It’s up to you, it’s all on you. You can make it work or break it all. Your choice.

Directed by Carl Reiner, the movie is based on a 1971 novel of the same name by Avery Corman. The screenplay was written by Larry Gelbart who had wanted Woody Allen to play Jerry Landers (John Denver’s character) and Mel Brooks to play God (George Burns’ character). Allen declined due to a movie he was already working on. Gelbart’s screenplay received an Oscar nomination for best-adapted screenplay that year.

The movie had a stellar supporting cast that included Donald Pleasence, Ralph Bellamy, William Daniels, Barry Sullivan
Dinah Shore, Carl Reiner, Jeff Corey, George Furth, David Ogden Stiers, Titos Vandis, Moosie Drier, Rachel Longaker, Mario Machado and more.

The movie grossed over 51 million dollars at the box office that year.

There were two sequels to the movie that included Oh, God! Book II in 1980 and finally, Oh, God! You Devil in 1984
