Laugh-in

All the best music, movies and TV shows have been made, we’re here to help you remember them all. Laugh-In is living proof of that!

You really had to grow up in the time to understand the title of the show and the humor. The show’s name was a play on much of the hippy ‘cultural’ experiences such as ‘love-ins’, ‘sit-ins’ and the like.

The show was actually a special run on NBC that ran on September 9, 1967. It was such a massive hit with the viewing public that NBC turned it into a series, like SCTV, like SNL, MadTV etc. The show was on Monday night, replacing The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in the 8PM time slot.

Dan Rowan and Dick Martin brought a different kind of energy to network TV with quick little gags, one-liner scenes and sketch comedy that were very risque for their time. Catch-phrases like “Here Come The Judge” and “Sock It To Me Baby” all came from the show.

The show’s cast throughout the years was amazing, many went on to massive careers in TV and film including Gary Owens, the show’s announcer. Ruth Buzzi, Judy Carne, Henry Gibson, Goldie Hawn, Arte Johnson, Jo Anne Worley, Alan Sues, Lily Tomlin, Johnny Brown, Dennis Allen and Richard Dawson.

The show ran for 140 episodes from January 22, 1968, to March 12, 1973 on NBC
