ABOUT JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY
Michael Keaton stars in this 1984 classic. Featuring a star-studded cast of great actors and comedians, this farce of a comedy comes complete with a non-stop array of unforgettable one-liners and a hatchet job to Chi-Town lingo.
If you saw this at the theater like most of us Keaton, Butkus and DeLuise fans, you laughed your arse off. If you didn’t you had to catch it on the rebound. While the suburbs had cable, here in Chicago, we had to watch this on subscription TV. You either had ONTV or Spectrum, the city was too busy trying to extort as much money as possible out of cable companies so it didn’t have cable ’til ’87.
Michael Keaton stars as an honest, goodhearted man who is forced to turn to a life of crime to finance his mother’s skyrocketing medical bills and to put his younger brother through law school.
The movie also stars Joe Piscopo, Marilu Henner, Maureen Stapleton, Peter Boyle, Griffin Dunne, Dom DeLuise, Danny DeVito, Dick Butkus and “the Skipper”, Alan Hale, Jr.
The movie cost 9 million dollars to make, it brought in over 17 million dollars at the box office.
