Jackson 5 – I Am Love (1974)
This is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago.
There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different? When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory and more of the music that keeps you movin? We’re it.
See, we’re all about the classics too…. Classic R&B and dance of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more. For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.
Showcasing their talents, I Am Love featured an amazing, psychedelic guitar solo on the album’s seven and a half minute full version.
Released in 1974 from the group’s “Dancing Machine” album, it would be their last top 20 hit on Motown. They would go on to release one more on the label titled “Moving Violation” before moving on to CBS records in 1976 where the Jackson 5 would have to change their name to The Jacksons.
The Jacksons would pick up where they left off with another string of hits including “Show You The Way To Go” (on Philadelphia Intl.), “Enjoy Yourself”, “Blame It On The Boogie”, “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) and more
“I Am Love” hit #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and #3 on the Billboard R&B charts.
