Italo disco and 80’s club classics
Italo club classics, (A/K/A italo disco) those cool imports from back in the day and 80’s club classics in the old school mix with The Beat Chicago’s resident DJ Jammin’ Down JD on the Saturday Night Live Ain’t No Jive Chicago Dance Party.
Keeping the tradition alive started by our sister network WBMX back in 1981, the Beat Chicago is bringing old school back to the radio, online and in our app!
We’re in the old school mix with Italo disco and 80s club classics, freestyle, house, ’80s, 90’s and more in the old school mix.
Listen on the radio, in our free APP or streaming online around the clock with our playlist, HERE.
Back in the day, people used to record the mixes on the radio so they wouldn’t miss them. People around the world have huge collections of those mixes from back in the day.
Today, we do all the work for you by uploading each week’s mix show to our website on Tuesdays. Once uploaded, you can listen to those mixes and all the past mixes, on-demand, here on the website and in our app. Each DJ mix show page includes the on-demand player, the tracklist (when available) as well as information and links to the DJ.

I’m a Radio/Mobile/Club DJ, entertainment director, public speaker, teacher, radio programmer, musician, music producer, and consultant. Also known as Jammin’Down JD, Jammerz, Mr. Joe, Joey, JD, Joseph, Joe, Jiggy, or That Nerd of All Trades.
I’m a happy man who wears many hats, and who continues to be grateful for all the blessings he has been given for all his life.
I’m an event production manager/consultant, a radio air personality, a radio programmer, a radio mixshow DJ, a mobile/nightclub DJ, a band manager, a vocalist, a keyboardist, a youth minister, a sports coach, and a former broadcast media company executive.
I run the Ultra Events Production Group in Chicago, providing extraordinary talent solutions for discerning events, clients, and partner companies in the greater Chicagoland area and beyond. We provide event planning, DJs, MCs, lighting, photobooths, audio-visual, live sound, vendor selection, audio production, and more.
I also run ChicagoPremiereDJs, my mobile DJ company (formerly known as Jam-Night Productions). I have been providing quality mobile entertainment for weddings, schools, meetings, and corporate events since 1986. Hit me up at [email protected] !
Until recently, I was the founder and President/CEO of JamTraxx Media, Inc. out of Chicago. JTM is a broadcast media company that continues to do radio station consulting, programming, production, imaging, and radio syndication. Its largest division is RadioMixes.com, America’s Fastest-Growing Mixshow Provider, with over a hundred radio stations throughout the United States, Canada, and now the world. In November 2012, I left the company I founded in 1993 to pursue opportunities in the local event production community.
I’ve also worked as an Air Personality and behind the scenes as a music programmer at various radio stations, including ENERGY 88.7 WLUW Chicago, CYBER RADIO 92.7 WCBR-FM Chicago, ENERGY 92.7/5 WKIE/WKIF/WDEK Chicago, and 103.7 KISS-FM WXSS Milwaukee. I’ve consulted radio stations throughout the nation. I’ve worked as a record rep for SOS Records and Baby-O Records, promoting Max-A-Million (“Fat Boy”), Roula (“Lick It”), Jaime Principle, and others.
I’ve worked freelance for Dance Music Authority magazine and served on the national mixshow panel. I’ve spun at Chicago’s greatest nightclubs, including Shelter, Excalibur, Medusa, Alcatrazz, Ka-Boom!, and several others, plus residencies at Riviera, Alejandro’s, and Beaumont 20/20.
I served as Vice President of the Chicago Chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association, and I serve on the Parent Community Group at my son’s school.
I serve on the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Therese Catholic Church and School. I have served St. Therese for the past several years as youth director, event coordinator, religion teacher, physical education teacher, and assistant in development for both the school and church. Though I had to leave my full-time position at St. Therese to concentrate on my growing businesses, I still continue to work with them whenever I can.
I’m currently in a rock band called “23/7”, providing sound, supporting vocals, and keyboards. I’m an avid piano player, and I am expanding my musical knowledge in other instruments. I now play piano, keyboard, organ, drums, electric bass, and I’m still working on electric guitar. I also enjoy teaching students how to play the electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and keyboards.
I wear many hats… but my skills and job titles do not totally explain the whole me. I am creative with an engineering soul, love humor and look for fun in almost everything, a Trekkie that cannot stand JJ Abrams, follow business and local news, and can be quite sentimental. I am loyal to a fault, and can be quite emotive. However, I am quiet and shy in certain situations. I am odd that way.
