Gabriel Rican Rodriguez, established himself as a major DJ force in Chicago in his early years along with his lifelong partners Devastating Dennis and DJ 3rd Rail. In High School, he was voted HS DJ of the year by Chicago Street Scene Promotions. This versatile deejay was blowing up the mixtape scene of various styles of music and was heavily promoted on the streets by spinning at numerous local events and concerts. 

In Chi-town, Gabriel was one of the pioneers of Trick Battle DJing (The Golden Age of Hip Hop) which helped him win numerous amounts of DJ Battles that made him popular among his peers. In 1989, he showcased his trademark scratches on the house song “Lost in Bass” released by Hot Jams Records which was later licensed by DIBI records in Belgium. Later that year, he started spinning on the legendary radio station WCYC 90.5 FM as a member of The Dominating 6 DJ Team.

By 1994, Gabriel was rockin’ the house in clubs and events like the historical WCYC Freestyle Festival @ Hawthorne Race Track, one of the most recognized Freestyle music concerts in Chicago of all time.

In 95, Gabriel Rican Rodriguez started mixing for Chicago Radio B-96’s Street Flava Show hosted by: Julian Jumpin Perez and Tim Spinnin’ Schommer.

A few years later, he had the opportunity to be one of the main DJ’s for the historical CLUB 720 as it was voted as the Best Latin Night Club in 97.

In 2002, Gabriel ventured into producing deep house music and released a KRAZY on Nuyoshi Records. That one track made the late great Godfather of House – Frankie Knuckles’ list of top 10 house songs of all time.

In 2003, he had the opportunity to showcase his skills on “Hot Wax” one of the hottest cable dance mix shows on Comcast Cable with over 1.5 million viewers per episode. Around this time, Gabriel also produced a deep house remix of “Life is Good” from South African singer/actress KB who had a cameo appearance in the movie “Ali” that featured Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Jon Voight, Mario Van Peebles & Jada Pinkett Smith. This house remix was distributed by Universal in SA.

In 2006,Gabriel opened for Pitbull at Volkan for 4 Fantasticos promotions and in the same year traveled to Boston, MA to spin at La Fraga Entertainment’s Boat Party hosted by Jam’ 94.5 Hip Hop & La Kalle 100.7 / 105.1 FM. During this time, he also appeared in a video entitled “La Cookie” with Boston’s Reggaeton group, Alofoque. The following year, he traveled to Miami, FL to appear in A2’s Hip Hop/R&B video called “Come Ride with Me” and was also the DJ for their live performance at the Calle Ocho Fest.

In 2008, he joined the Soul Selector’s DJ Team, Wu-Latino DJ Team and Slip-N-Slide Records DJ Team out of Miami. In the same year, he opened up for, the Latin Grammy Award winning artists, Wisin y Yandel @ Aragon Entertainment Center for La Kalle radio which was filled to capacity.

In 2017, Gabriel was a special guest DJ on the Summer of George Boat Cruise by The P.B&J Mix Show. A year later, he traveled to El Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo Mexico to spin at the Villa La Joya mansion.

DJ Gabriel Rican has opened for artists like Don Omar, Baby Bash, Nina Sky, Lil Rob, Malverde, Notch, Casa De Leones, La Factoria, Wisin y Yandel, Kinto Sol, Chino Bling, Chelo, Tony Touch, Chosen Few, Prince Royce, Huey Dunbar, Monchy y Alexandra, Toby Love, Groupo Opitmo, Extreme, Groupo Mania, George LaMond, Stevie B, Cynthia, Judy Torres & TKA to name a few.

Throughout his DJ career, he as mixed for radio stations such as: Univision Communication’s LA KALLE & LATINO MIX 93.5FM/103.1FM , B-96 FM, WCYC 90.5 FM, WCRX 88.1 FM, WRTE 88.9 FM & WIIT 88.9 FM. Gabriel has an impressive track record and has made quite a name for himself with his musical journey over the decades. Currently in 2019, Gabriel Rican Rodriguez is going to debut on Chicago radio The BEAT 102.3 FM so stay tuned!!!
