Always enjoyed music of any genre as long as it was pleasing to the ear. Saw Satuday Night Fever and was curious as to how the night club and night life ran. Listening to Disco DAI (WDAI) i heard Kenny Jason, Jeff Davis and Lou Devito able to manipulate the songs they were mixing. Did some research and found out they were using turntables with speed adjustment to mix the music. At 16 i was able to get a job and began to buy DJ equipment. It was cheap and unprofessional but that was all i could afford. I stuck with it and realized I had a true passion for it and continued to learn the art. I continued progressing on buying better equipment and started to do house parties. I got some exposure and soon began to do High Schools and Universities as well as weddings and Quinceañeras. I eventually entered a contest to become a member of the Hot Mix 5 and represented the North side losing to a gentlemen by the name of Julian Perez. I met a lot of people there that helped me get some more exposure. I was doing more events and got to work with the members of the Hot Mix 5 as well as doing guest spots on the radio stations WCYC, WBMX, WGCI and B96. I also did guest spots at different Night Clubs in the city and in 1988 i got a residency at Erik’s North Night Club in Lincolnwood and would work there for two years. At this point in my life i had to make a career choice and had to leave the Night Club Life and DJing in public places. I continued to DJ at home and had a tough time making the change from vinyl to digital but i don’ regret it. I still have the passion for it and have kept up to date with the changes the DJ world has made. I have since retired from my career and have done some venues and enjoy getting back into the DJing. I must admit that i enjoy listening to other DJ mixes as well and must say that the Chicago land area has a lot of very talented Djs doing there thing. Djing has always been a way to relieve stress for me and has enhanced my love for the art. I hope the noise i make is pleasing to your ears and can take you back in time to a stress free life.
