Break Dance, Pop Lockin’ Weekend

An entire weekend of breakdance movies on The Beat Chicago

We’re all about keeping you entertained with old school here on The Beat Chicago. What could be better than going back to OUR roots with an all 80’s pop lockin’, break dancin’ b-boy weekend!

Many remember the movie Breakin’ as the movie that brought it all to the mainstream but, before that, there was a documentary called “Breakin’ N Enterin’” from 1983,  a full year before Breakin’ was released.   Breakin’ ‘N’ Enterin’ documented the LA B-boy scene that inspired the movie Breakin’ and starred many of those same people including Boogaloo Shrimp, Shabba Doo and others.

The L.A. scene and NY scene of breakers were completely different. New York breakers were all about floor work, West Coast b-boys spent a lot more time poppin’, lockin’ and uprockin’.

Below you’ll find the most popular movies, documentaries, videos, and more about the culture and the lifestyle of poppers, breakers and b-boys from back in the day.

They’re all on-demand and free, just click and watch. If you have a smartTV, open the browser on your smartTV, go to TheBeatChicago.com, click this feature and watch it on your big screen!
