Watch It’s A Wonderful Life On The Beat’s Throwback Theater

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Every Thursday we feature a classic movie [or amazing clips from them] from back in the day for you to watch at work, on the way to work, on the way home from work or on your day off to watch and share.

Today’s feature takes you back to 1946 for the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life.

We’re in the Christmas/Holiday season so what better movie to feature in this season than one of the most beloved of all time.

Enjoy 1946’s It’s A Wonderful Life starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Sheldon Leonard and Henry Travers who plays the adorable Clarence AS2 (Angel 2nd class)

When the movie was released, it didn’t do too well at the movie houses.  But, in 1974 a clerical error prevented the copyright owner from filing the necessary extension application. The movie went into the public domain so it didn’t cost anything to broadcast for the stations showing it ’round the clock.

This movie still makes you laugh and cry throughout the entire story where an angel (Henry Travers) is sent from Heaven to help George Bailey (James Stewart) see the value in his life before he tries to commit suicide.

The movie really goes to the heart of what a decent, stand-up person is vs. a low-life, miserable crumb-like character played by Lionel Barrymore (Mr. Potter).

From a different time, a different era, a greater generation, without further adieu, enjoy today’s Throwback Theater feature here on TheBeatChicago.com… It’s A Wonderful Life
