Ray, Goodman And Brown – Special Lady (1979)

Ray,Goodman And Brown had some strong songs in 1980 including this hit Special Lady. This is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago. It’s also a great slow jam you’d hear on our Quiet Storm show on our ‘overnight flight’ Mon-Thurs from 10PM – 2AM.

There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different?  When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory classic 80’s dance hits and more of the music that keeps you movin?  we’re it.

See, we’re all about the classics too…. Classic R&B and dance of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more.  For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.

Back in the early 80’s, there was no shortage of great slow jams, hell, was there ever?

Dressed to the nines with their classy look and even classier three part harmonies, Ray, Goodman & Brown had a hit earlier in the 70’s as The Moments with “Love On A Two Way Street” which would be covered by a very young Stacy Lattisaw in 1981.

“Special Lady”, “Slipped Away” and “Inside Of You” were the three big hits from this album that would top the R&B charts.

The following year they’d return with hits including their covers of “Happy Anniversary” and “My Prayer”
