All the best songs have been recorded, all the best movies and TV shows have been made, that's why they keep remaking them all today. The Beat Chicago is here to keep the history of what's real.

Chicago's #1 choice for throwbacks and old school, our international audience gets a chance to see what real history is all about here in Chicago. From the original music, music videos, movies and TV shows, there's a reason we're Chicago's #1 choice for throwbacks and old school mixes.

More than just music, we're everything old school. From the throwbacks and old school mixes on our radio station to the TV channel, our Backspin section and videos just like these.

ABOUT THE VIDEO

One of our favorite comedians was John Witherspoon, "Pops" passed away this week at the age of 77.

John was a giant 'personality', he had it, the presence, the sociability, the ability to make you laugh within one second.

He had so many great moments in time that were so laugh out loud funny.

For this video, we wanted to highlight what we view as his funniest moments caught on film.

From the 1992 film BOOMERANG starring Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, David Allen Grier, Halle Berry and a cast of great supporting actors including Grace Jones, Earth Kitt, Robin Givens, Chris Rock, Tisha Campbell and more, this movie is in our top 10 of all time for comedy.  There are some scenes that'll make you stop to catch your breath they're so funny.

The soundtrack featured some damn fine music we play here on The Beat Chicago from Toni Braxton, Johnny Gill, Babyface, A Tribe Called Quest and more.

Anywho... back to this video.  How anyone kept a straight face in this scene or the dozen or so others from this movie is beyond us.

Enjoy John Witherspoon's funniest scenes from Boomerang below.
