Bill Withers – Use Me (1972)

Bill Withers is one of the many classic R&B artists you’re going to here on The Beat Chicago. Songs like “Use Me” are what makes us the Rhythm and Beat of Chicago.

For nothing but classic R&B, soul and the funk listen every Sunday night from 10PM – 2AM to our Great Golden Grooves show.

This is music that makes you feel good! The best music, movies and TV shows have all been made, we’re here to help you remember them all. This is just one of the many great songs you’d hear on The Beat Chicago.

There’s enough stations playing rock n’ roll classics and the same 80’s songs from Bon Jovi, Journey, John Cougar, Elton John all day long and that’s all cool but, when you want something completely different?  When you want everything from Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Spinners to Stevie B, C+C Music Factory and more of the music that keeps you movin?  We’re it.

See, we’re all about the classics too…. Classic R&B and dance of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, freestyle and more.  For us, it’s not about how old a song is, it’s about how good it is and this is as good as it gets.

Taken from his second album titled Still Bill, this wasn’t the only hit from that album.  The massive hit Lean On Me came from the same album.  Withers said that they cut the entire album in about eight hours for under $8,000.00

Bill came a long way.  He spent nine years in the Navy where he had speech therapy to overcome his stuttering. After his release from the Navy, he wrote songs as he delivered milk, worked for the Ford Motor Company, and then worked for IBM.

He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 where Stevie Wonder gave the induction speech.
